A practitioner's approach to building and scaling wealth management platforms.

Thirty-five years of cross-channel experience — from recruiting and developing individual advisors to leading a $600M+ broker-dealer through post-crisis restructuring, to launching a first-of-its-kind hybrid distribution model with private equity backing.

John Lefferts is a senior wealth management executive whose career spans every major distribution channel in U.S. financial services. He has served as a Financial Advisor, Branch Manager, Regional President, Managing Director, and ultimately President and CEO of AXA Advisors, where he led the firm's post-9/11 restructuring and scaled per-advisor revenue to a company record.

After AXA, he co-founded and led Lion Street Financial, pioneering the Tribrid distribution model that integrates broker-dealer, registered investment advisor, and insurance brokerage general agency capabilities onto a single platform for high-net-worth advisors. He has since held senior roles at Ensight (Chief Revenue Officer), Equitable Advisors (Senior EVP and National Head of Business Development), and most recently as Head of Cetera Investors.

John is actively exploring his next chapter — CEO, President, and Head of Wealth Management operating roles, along with PE-backed platform opportunities, advisory engagements, and board positions. He is based in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

Created a new senior role as part of the initiative to stand up a dedicated wealth management firm within Equitable Holdings, leading M&A and experienced-advisor recruiting nationally. Previously led the restructure of Southern California, merging Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego into a single mega-branch with five offices and 350 financial advisors.

As District Manager (ranked #1 of 600), Branch Manager (#1 of 90), and Regional President of Texas (#1 of 18), led each organization to the top of the company. As President and CEO, navigated the firm through post-9/11 restructuring — eliminating more than $50M in costs, consolidating 18 regions into 6, and lifting per-advisor revenue 20% to a company record. Also led the integration of MONY's field force following the 2004 acquisition.
